Western Brown’s Tudor 3rd in Shot Put

Mack Tudor of Western Brown just missed earning a spot on the USA national Track & Field team that will compete in the World Youth Championships next month when he placed third in the team trials of the discus throw Wednesday morning in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Tudor, who will be a senior this fall, had a throw of 53.61 meters (175 feet, 11 inches) and was edged by the throw of 53.64 meters by Jason Zahn. The competition was won with a throw of 58.16 meters (19010) by Ethan Cochran.

The top two finishers in each event are eligible to represent the United States at the 7th IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France, July 6-10. The World Youth Championships are a competition open to athletes ages 16-17 who will not turn 18 years old in 2011.

Tudor placed fourth in Tuesdays shot put competition.
