Winton Woods QB to visit Georgia Tech

Winton Woods senior QB Thomas Owens will visit Georgia Tech on Saturday and will stay in the state of Georgia next season, according to Winton Woods coach Andre Parker.

Owens plans to attend a prep school, Atlanta Sports Academy, next year and then go to Georgia Tech, according to Parker.

Taft junior DE Adolphus Washington and Taft junior WR Dwayne Stanford have committed to play in the 2012 Under Armour Game, according to Taft coach Mike Martin.

Annual Research Day Showcases Diversity of Research Pursuits on Campus

 

From uncovering the antimicrobial properties of statins to evaluating protein administration in premature neonates to preventing falls in the elderly, University of the Sciences will showcase the diversity and growth of research pursuits on campus during its 9th Annual Research Day on Thursday, April 14, 2011 (43rd St. and Woodland Ave.), starting at 11 a.m.

Research Day recognizes and highlights the research efforts of faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students to encourage and promote communication and collaboration among researchers. The University is unique in that it offers undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research early on in their academic careers.

The diverse research activity on display spans several aspects of the Universitys scholarly pursuits, including:

  • Biological Sciences: Graduate student Faraz Zaidi is researching the cholera toxin which affects the gastrointestinal system if left untreated.

So far I have not written much about what I do here at K¹². I am an instructional designer. This is like being an engineer, taking the material that is content, from wonderful experts like Dr. Dan Franck, and designing the best way to deliver this in our K¹² products. We have a wonderful team of instructional designers, like Jeff Pitcher with whom I have worked in developing virtual labs and videos, who are expert at doing this. For a moment, I am going to let you into our “instructional labs” to talk about science labs.
