Dana Middle School students conclude participation in FBI program
Students at Dana Middle School in Hawthorne this year got a glimpse of what it’s like to work in the FBI.
A semester-long program at the school put on by the FBI concluded Monday with a graduation for the students who participated.
The ceremony honored the roughly 40 students enrolled in the Junior Special Agent Program.
During the year, FBI personnel taught courses that touched on a wide range of topics, including bullying, the history of the FBI, conflict resolution, civil rights, the harmful effects of drugs and gangs, and Internet safety.
Students also were introduced to FBI canines and their handlers, as well as bomb technicians and members of hazardous materials teams.
Throughout, the students learned about the importance of using science and mathematics to solve crimes.
Students also took a trip to the FBI’s Los Angeles field office for a tour to meet agents and other professionals.
