Dana Middle: Students learn on islands, beach
DANA MIDDLE
Students learn on islands, at beach: Forty students from Dana Middle School in San Pedro spent last week on the Channel Islands, at a Malibu beach and in the Santa Monica Mountains learning about the environment and science.
The trip was funded by NatureBridge, a nonprofit environmental education organization that has an office in the Santa Monica Mountains. The group serves 30,000 students each year.
The students spent two nights on a liveaboard boat at Channel Islands National Park and two nights camping at Circle X Ranch in Malibu. They also visited Leo Carrillo Beach, learning about tidepools, conservation and climate change.
