Memorial Day 2011

Although many people think of Memorial Day as the unofficial start of summer, its important that we dont lose sight of the real reason it was created – to remember the men and women who died while in the military service.

In addition to the BBQs, shopping and pool openings, make sure to talk with your kids about ways to honor the men and women who serve our country. You can talk with them about the history of the holiday, visit a local cemetary or memorial, or volunteer to a put flag on a local veterans grave. It could even be as simple as saying thank you to a veteran you know. The point is to take some time to teach your kids that its more than just a long holiday weekend.

Military men and women, veterans and their families make great sacrifices to serve our country and it is deeply appreciated by all of us at K¹². Thank you.

Have a safe Memorial Day.
