New prinicpal named at Pacific Elementary in Manhattan Beach
Pacific Elementary School in Manhattan Beach has a new principal.
Kimberlie Linz, the assistant principal at Manhattan Beach Middle School, will take the reigns July 1.
One of 30 applicants, Linz bested seven other finalists who interviewed for the job.
Linz will succeed Debbie Mabry, Pacific’s principal since 2007. Mabry is taking the helm at another school in the district, Pennekamp Elementary, where Dale Keldrauk is retiring after serving in that capacity for 15 years.
Applicants for the Pacific Elementary job were vetted by a committee of teachers, parents and administrators, who served on interview panels and analyzed spontaneous writing samples from each candidate.
Michael Matthews, superintendent of the Manhattan Beach Unified School District, also interviewed the finalists, and recommended Linz to the board, which granted formal approval on June 15.
