Online Education: Thanks for the Family Time

K12 is a top-notch, wonderful curriculum.

Virtual academies have talented, passionate teachers and fabulous services.

Online learning has given me the ability to provide an individualized education for my kids.

Our kids have received a world-class education.

All of the above statements are true. I mean every word —  and I’m not saying any of it because I work for K12.

But I have to tell you, after 16 years of schooling at home, the very best thing about it all is this…

And this:

It’s the gift of family time.

Watching my kids grow close. Watching them play and learn together. Laughter. Creativity. And yes, even bickering.

It’s been watching their personalities develop, shaped by collective family experiences and enhanced by our time together. It’s the time together and the times apart — missing one another, and then reuniting. Its rewarding to know that my kids actually miss one another when they are apart.

It’s family meals, even with finicky eaters. And it’s having my kids recognize, now and then, how important family meal times are. It has become a treasured ritual to them as well as for me.

Family is the priority. The kids, together and apart, are the priorities.

And they grow and leave home before you know it. K12 is allowing me to send intelligent, educated, literate, well -rounded adults out into the world.

But it’s helped me give them something else as well. The kids have memories of family, of one another, and of time together, that they would not have had otherwise.

Thanks K12, for the family time.

Priceless.
